Please think about disabled pedestrians
It’s been pointed out to us by one of our readers just how difficult it is to negotiate pavements as a pedestrian in Spain, particularly if you have to use a wheelchair. Heavy doors on buildings, tables and chairs on pavements outside cafes and trees and lamposts all make the job of finding your way around almost impossible in the majority of Spanish towns.
Thanks to Sheila for raising this point and her suggestion that every mayor and planning officer should spend at least one day in a wheelchair to see how it feels when there are so many obstacles in your way. Unfortunately, we don’t think any of them read our newsletter. But you never know...
