IBI tax
Now is the time when you should be paying your council tax or IBI if you have property in the Alicante region. Each region has a window in which this important council tax must be paid. You must pay IBI whether you are a resident or non-resident and the same amount is charged. For more information about this tax and what to expect if you don’t pay it, read our article:

Watch out for the imposters
As in most walks of life there are always some people who will take advantage. With the housing market experiencing something of a boom at the moment it seems as though there are some imposters out there trying to get in on the act. These false friends are claiming to be legal advisors but are not properly qualified and are advertising services which, in some cases, are not even necessary.

Take a trip to Denia

The 69th edition of the San Sebastian film festival concluded on Saturday 25th September. This annual festival held in the Basque country usually comes with a little controversy and this year it was the awarding of the lifetime achievement Donostia Award to Johnny Depp that caught the headlines. Best chef in the world – comes from Spain This is according to the best Chef Award 2021. Dabiz Muñoz took the title at a gala in Amsterdam, followed by the Swedish chef Björn Frantzen in second place. At least it gives the Spanish hospitality industry something to celebrate:

Speaking like a native
Do you ever use the Spanish words ‘claro’, ‘es verdad’ as ways in which you can express agreement or do you use ‘a ver’ when you’re about to explain yourself? Zumba for a good cause If you live in the vicinity of Torrevieja then you might be interested to hear that a Zumbathon is being held on Sunday 3rd October in aid of AFECáncer. It will take place from 10.30-13.00 in the town’s sports centre and you can register for 10€ and receive a pack of goodies too.
